Business Wire
Defense Technology Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:DFTS) announced today that
the Board of Directors, which includes current CEO Daniel McPhee,
has voted unanimously to initiate a search for a new Chief
Executive Officer. The Board's goal is to bring defense industry
leadership depth into the Company. The Company has recently
implemented a revitalization and redirection plan to leverage its
experience in providing digital communication infrastructure
solutions to Fortune 1000 companies and expand into providing
overall Homeland Security solutions to major metropolitan
municipalities. To accelerate the plan, Defense Technology recently
acquired a majority interest in an established defense engineering
firm with 20 years of experience and a portfolio of proprietary
technologies. Through acquisition, Defense Technology has trailing
twelve month revenue of $5 million. Management intends to build a
Homeland Security product portfolio through acquisition that could
add substantial annual revenue through potential acquisitions under
negotiation. "Dan McPhee and his team created a timely Homeland
Security vision and did well to direct a Company with limited
resources toward achieving this vision, "said Philip Verges, a
recent addition to the Company's Board of Directors and a graduate
of the United States Military Academy at West Point. "With the
Company's 2004 restructuring and the recent acquisition of a
majority interest in a defense industry engineering firm, Mr.
McPhee and his team have positioned Defense Technology for
significant growth in 2005. I am confident that as a continuing
Board member, Mr. McPhee will continue to bring great value and
vision to the Company in his ongoing leadership role." "The
Company's prior focus had been in providing voice and data
communication solutions" said Mr. McPhee, the current CEO of
Defense Technology. "The increase of global terrorism changed the
landscape of our customer's communication requirements and changed
the world's priorities in regard to business, government and
individual decision making. Our Company's focus needed to change as
well. The technology economy has made finding necessary resources
to fuel any change very difficult, but we persevered and have
positioned the Company to grow into a leading Homeland Security
solution provider. I believe the shareholders will best be served
at this juncture in our Company's development with an experienced
Defense industry professional in the role of CEO. I look forward to
continuing in a vital role with the Company on the Board of
Directors." About Defense Technology Systems, Inc. Defense
