Fresenius Medical Care AG said late Tuesday that Carla Kriwet will succeed Rice Powell as chief executive as of Jan. 1, 2023.

Mr. Powell will be stepping down due to the age limit for members of the management board when his contract expires at the end of 2022, the German health care company said.

Dr. Kriwet was most recently CEO and president of BSH Hausgeraete GmbH, a home appliance company with 15.6 billion euros ($16.4 billion) in sales and 62,000 employees.
