                  CHLORIDE APPOINTS NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR



Chloride is pleased to announce the appointment of Robin Southwell as
non-executive director effective from 21 January 2002.


Robin Southwell, 41, is Chief Executive of W S Atkins Plc, the
technologically-based consultancy group providing management, technical and
integrated solutions to a range of UK and international markets.


His previous career was with BAE Systems Plc - the defence and aerospace group -
which he joined after leaving university in 1981 and where he held a number of
senior appointments spanning a 20-year period.


Mr Southwell brings an important perspective to the Board with his experience in
major capital projects and facilities management, where the requirement for
business continuity provides growth opportunities for Chloride.
