The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Alon USA (ALJ) said a brief power interruption on May 7 at its
Big Spring, Texas refinery caused emissions at a sulfur recovery
unit, an FCCU and crude flare. The report did not say whether the
event had an impact on operations.
Alon USA's naphtha hydrotreater at its Paramount, Calif.,
refinery will take 10 weeks to restart following an April
malfunction, the company said on May 7.
Total USA (TOT) on May 7 shut unit 837 at its Port Arthur, Texas
refinery for two weeks of maintenance. The unit was only identified
by number.
Tesoro (TSO) will perform about 39 days of turnaround
maintenance in the second quarter at a hydrocracker and reformer at
its Golden Eagle refinery in Martinez, Calif. A turnaround of
similar length will occur in the fourth quarter at its Wilmington,
Calif., refinery, the company said on May 7.
Delek US (DK) said it will on May 7 attempt to restart the fluid
catalytic cracking unit at its Tyler, Texas, refinery after a
failed first try.
Shell Oil Corp. (RDSB, RDSA) will perform turnaround maintenance
at a crude unit and coker unit at its Martinez, Calif., refinery
from July 10 to Aug. 15, refiners and traders doing business with
Shell said on May 6.
Western Refining (WNR) will shut its El Paso, Texas, refinery
for 10 days in June, the company said on May 6.
Shell Oil Corp.'s on May 5 said its Anancortes, Washington,
refinery had returned to planned rates. The company declared force
majeure on crude oil receipts to refinery on April 23 following a
plant-wide shutdown owing to a power failure.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said on May 5 that the crude unit at
its Delaware refinery was in restart mode; a key gasoline making
FCCU was back on-line on May 4 following an extended outage. Other
units will be restarted over the next few days. The refinery was
shut on March 4 for economic reasons while work continued, since
Feb. 15, at the plant's coker unit.
Delek US on May 5 will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to
commemorate the restart of its 60,000-barrels-a-day Tyler, Texas,
refinery, the company said on April 30. The plant was shut
following a fatal fire on Nov. 20, 2008.
