William E. McCorey, Jr. to Succeed Jones as Chief Information Officer RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Circuit City Stores, Inc. today announced that Michael L. Jones has decided to step down as senior vice president, chief information officer to pursue other interests, effective immediately. He will remain at the company until mid-November to transition his duties to his replacement. William E. McCorey, Jr. has been promoted to senior vice president and will replace Jones as chief information officer. McCorey, 48, has worked at the company in a variety of information technology leadership roles from 1991 to 2005. He served as the chief information officer at 2nd Swing, Inc. for a brief period, then rejoined Circuit City Stores, Inc. in April 2005. Since that time, he has served as vice president, business applications, with responsibility for implementing large scale retail applications, including the company's new point of sale system and the merchandising systems transformation.
