The acquisition will enable Bruker to expand its product
offering for SAXS with the former Hecus MICROcaliX product
line, which has won the 2011 R&D 100 award for its innovative
combination of laboratory SAXS and microcalorimetry. By integrating
MICROcaliX Kratky optics with state-of-the-art Bruker
IμS X-ray sources and VANTEC X-ray detectors for
optimized performance and reliability, Bruker can now bring a
unique, powerful SAXS system to the nanoanalytics market.
Along with the acquisition of the MICROcaliX product
line, Professor Peter Laggner, founder and former Managing Director
of Hecus, has joined Bruker AXS as ‘Director - Nanostructure
Solutions’. Professor Laggner commented: “I am glad that the proven
Hecus technology will be continued at Bruker, and I am looking
forward to drive the Bruker SAXS business worldwide with our most
comprehensive and attractive product portfolio.”
Dr. Frank Burgaezy, President of the Bruker AXS division, added:
“I am convinced that our expanded SAXS product portfolio that now
includes our established high-end NANOSTAR systems and the acquired
dedicated high-flux systems based on advanced Kratky technology
will further strengthen Bruker’s position in the SAXS market for
materials and life-science research, as well as for food and drug
analytics.”
