Geac Delivers Advanced Reporting Capabilities to Business
Executives New software module integrates Microsoft SQL Server 2000
Reporting Services with Geac MPC performance management Suite
MARKHAM, ON and SOUTHBOROUGH, MA, April 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Geac(R) (TSX:GAC, NASDAQ:GEAC) today launched a new production
reporting module that integrates Microsoft SQL Server 2000
Reporting Services into the Geac MPC performance management
application suite. As a result, Geac customers that use Microsoft
SQL Server will have increasingly powerful business intelligence
and reporting capabilities to refine their business insight. The
new offering broadens the range of reporting options available to
Geac MPC customers. The module was developed in part in response to
findings of independent research conducted with Geac customers
worldwide and with senior finance executives outside Geac's
customer base, who identified reporting -- in addition to Geac's
best-in-class budgeting, forecasting and strategy management suite
-- as a critical area of focus. Geac's new Production Reporting
with Reporting Services module is based on Microsoft SQL Server
2000 Reporting Services. The module produces auto-generated reports
which are customizable for multiple end user communities, such as
analysts, auditors, board committees and executive management. "SQL
Server 2000 Reporting Services and Geac MPC work together to
provide customers with new insight into business data," said Bill
Baker, General Manager for SQL Server Business Intelligence at
Microsoft Corporation. "This innovative, combined solution saves
time, resources and costs -- providing our mutual customers with a
reliable, cost-effective business intelligence foundation."
Reporting Services is an open and extensible platform supporting
the authoring, management and delivery of rich, interactive reports
to enterprise users. Presented in the Microsoft Windows
environment, the Reporting Services platform delivers real-time
business intelligence to support daily operations and decisions.
The integration with Geac MPC provides Reporting Services with
direct, intuitive connectivity to budgeting, planning,
consolidation, and forecasting data within the Geac performance
management suite. "As a current customer of Geac and Microsoft, we
believe this is a great move for these two companies. We want to
leverage the new functionality that Microsoft has added to its SQL
Server family," said Steven Greenberger, Systems Specialist,
Consolidated Edison of New York. "At Con Edison, we didn't want to
have to venture outside of the Geac and Microsoft product suite for
reporting capabilities. We are glad to see that customer needs and
requests are strongly influencing new enhancements to our
Performance Management investment. We are very excited about having
the option of using Reporting Services to produce reports for our
various audiences." "Production Reporting with Reporting Services
is another example of how our close relationship with Microsoft is
bearing fruit and providing incremental value to our customers,"
said Timothy J. Wright, Chief Technology Officer and Chief
Executive of EMEA and Asia Pacific. "By extending our customers'
existing system functionality with enhanced reporting capabilities
within MPC Production Reporting, these customers can now benefit
from industry leading technology at a fraction of the cost and
implementation time. MPC Production Reporting represents an
additional capability available within the fully integrated Geac
MPC performance management suite, whose architecture alone is a
compelling differentiator from other vendors' solutions. As part of
our research and development strategy, we will continue to identify
and offer innovative product extensions that are high-value and
high-return in nature, providing our customers with competitive
advantage." The new Production Reporting with Reporting Services is
available from Geac's direct sales force and authorized Geac MPC
distributors. Reporting Services is currently available to licensed
SQL Server 2000 customers. About Geac Geac (TSX: GAC, NASDAQ:GEAC)
