Mondelez International Inc. said Monday that agriculture expert
Ertharin Cousin has joined its board as the snack maker looks to
advance its green initiatives.
Ms. Cousin is the former executive director of the United
Nations World Food Program and was an ambassador to the U.N.'s Food
and Agriculture Agencies during former President Barack Obama's
administration.
"Her expert perspective on food policy and sustainability issues
will bring important insights and value to our board and team as we
continue advancing our strategy and ESG priorities as a global
snacking leader," Mondelez Chairman and Chief Executive Dirk Van de
Put said in prepared remarks.
Ms. Cousin, who is the founder, president and chief executive of
the Food Systems of the Future Institute, is also on the board of
Bayer AG.
Her addition to Mondelez expands the board to 13 members.
Last month, the company said it was committing to a net zero
emissions target by 2050.
