TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. Expands Location-Based Services Into China
March 19 2009 - 6:30AM
Marketwired
TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a leading
provider of mission-critical wireless communications, today
announced the expansion of its Location-Based Services (LBS)
offerings into the People's Republic of China. Building on its
customer base in Hong Kong, TCS will work closely with the Alliance
Development Group to enhance the global offering of LBS products
and services.
TCS has assembled the industry's only true end-to-end wireless
location solution by offering location infrastructure, location
gateways, middleware platforms, geospatial and application servers,
and content and applications. For the second consecutive year, TCS
was recognized by analyst firm Frost & Sullivan as providing
the industry's most complete set of solutions for the complex
interoperability needed to deliver premium wireless Location-Based
Services (LBS).
With more than a decade of international deployment experience,
TCS has delivered world-class LBS solutions to more than 50
wireless customers in North America, South America, Europe,
Australia, and Asia. TCS was the first to demonstrate the use of
location technologies in support of emergency services, deploying
the first wireless E9-1-1 solution in the United States, and was
the first company to deploy a commercial precise location
infrastructure in Europe to support UMTS. TCS has provided proven
precise location technology for in-network deployments or via
world-class hosting solutions, employing different business models
and pricing methods to adapt to customers' specific needs. TCS has
also built and launched navigation and mapping-based applications
in new and emerging global markets.
"With the issuing of 3G licenses in China, we believe that
location-based commercial and emergency services will be a major
revenue generator for local wireless operators and China will
become a world leader in LBS solutions," said Timothy J. Lorello,
Chief Marketing Officer of TCS. "While China is a unique market
with its own challenges and opportunities, TCS has a global
experience that can be shared with local operators, helping the
application and service providers to deliver excellent LBS services
to Chinese enterprises and customers. Due to the unique aspects of
this market, we solicited assistance from Alliance Development
Group because of their years of experience, strong connections, and
deep understanding of the telecommunications industry in
China."
Alliance Development Group has been retained by TCS to guide
business development and build key alliances with third-party
vendors in China. Infrastructure providers, systems integrators and
application developers have the opportunity to collaborate with TCS
to offer a broad range of location content tailored specifically to
this market.
