MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.,
Feb. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Nuage
Networks, the Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU)
start-up venture focused on SDN (software-defined networking)
solutions, today announced that CTCC, the Cloud Computing Branch of
China Telecom, has selected its SDN technology to help deliver
secure, scalable, and self-serve public cloud services in
China's fast-growing cloud
computing market.
As part of the world's largest fixed-line telecommunications
operator and the largest fixed network provider in mainland
China, CTCC is one of the largest
cloud computing service providers in the country, responsible for
China Telecom's comprehensive cloud services. To have the
scalability and elasticity required to serve public cloud
customers, CTCC is investing in virtualization technologies and,
specifically, Nuage Networks' Virtualized Services Platform (VSP).
Nuage Networks was chosen to provide SDN capability that operates
seamlessly in CTCC's complex and geographically dispersed network
infrastructure.
Nuage Networks will also address CTCC's network security
requirements, helping guard against the customer impact of
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks by providing full
network isolation in order to prevent attacks against a single
customer impacting others.
With operators and enterprises requiring cloud services to offer
their customers the highest level of responsiveness, CTCC needed
its cloud infrastructure to be capable of creating a virtual
machine for customers within minutes of a self-service request.
Working with Nuage Networks' VSP and the 7850 Virtualized Services
Gateway platforms, CTCC can leverage virtual and non-virtualized
network assets to establish customer policies throughout shared
datacenter facilities supporting their cloud services.
To ensure availability and efficiency of cloud-based services
over the scale of its public cloud project, CTCC must balance
resource utilization with the high-availability needs of their
customers. To overcome traffic bottlenecks, Nuage Networks' Virtual
Routing and Switching (VRS) module will substantially increase the
efficiency of each network port to enable the support of more
virtual machines per server.
"We are pleased that Nuage Networks has helped us to achieve
scalability in our cloud infrastructure and improve the
availability of the services. We can now offer our customers
self-serve public cloud services in a more secure and dynamic way,
giving them services that are tailored to meet their unique
business requirements," said Guang
Xiaoming, the chief technology officer of CTCC.
Sunil Khandekar, CEO of Nuage
Networks added: "We are excited to work with CTCC in support of
their public cloud implementation. CTCC's customers deserve instant
access to public cloud services that are supported by a network
that is capable of responding to their changing needs, and the full
range of applications that they require and depend on to power
their businesses."
