LONDON--European plane maker Airbus SE (AIR.FR) said Friday that
Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) would buy 10 more A330-900 widebody
planes.
The order, which comes on top of 25 A330-900s the U.S. carrier
has already ordered, is valued at $3.2 billion before industry
standard discounts.
As part of the deal, Airbus said Delta will also defer delivery
of 10 A350 widebody planes. Those are now due for delivery in the
2025-26 timeframe. Delta currently operates 11 A350-900s, Airbus
said, and should get four more before the end of 2020.
The additional A330-900s, also called A330neo planes, are
powered by engines from British supplier Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC
(RYCEY).
The first A330neo is due for delivery to TAP Air Portugal before
year end.
