Humana Inc. (HUM) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter earnings that beat analysts' estimates, fueled by continued strong Medicare Advantage results.

The health insurer reported a profit of $436 million, or $2.58 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected net income of $343 million, or $2.39 a share.

Adjusted per-share earnings came in at $2.65, while analysts expected $2.53 a share.

Revenue was $14.17 billion, topping analysts' forecasts of $13.94 billion.

Humana issued guidance for 2019, looking for a full-year EPS of $16.60 to $17.10, and adjusted EPS of $17 to $17.50. The company also raised its quarterly dividend to 55 cents a share from 50 cents.
