ResMed Appoints Two Independent Directors Board of Directors
Expanded to Eight Members SAN DIEGO, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- ResMed Inc (NYSE:RMD) announced that, effective today, it has
appointed to its board of directors Mr. John Wareham, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer of Beckman Coulter, and Mr. Ron Taylor,
founder of Pyxis Corporation. Louis Simpson has resigned from the
board. "Lou has been a tremendous asset to our board since he
joined in 2002. While I am sorry to see him go, I am grateful for
his contributions despite the increasing demands on his time,"
stated Peter C. Farrell, PhD, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

wealth of health care experience to the board. I have admired their
ability to deliver results at their respective companies." John
Wareham is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Beckman Coulter,
Inc. (NYSE:BEC). Before joining Beckman Coulter in 1984, Mr.
Wareham was President of Norden Laboratories, Inc., a wholly-owned
subsidiary of SmithKline Beckman. He first joined a predecessor of
SmithKline Beckman Corporation in 1968. Mr. Wareham is a director
of STERIS Corporation (NYSE:STE) and Wilson Greatbatch
Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:GB). He is also a director and past
Chairman of AdvaMed, the Advanced Medical Technology Association, a
member of the Board of Trustees of the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI,
the National Association of Manufacturers, and the California
Healthcare Institute. He is also on the advisory board of the John
Henry Foundation, a member of the Center for Corporate Innovation,
a member of the Chief Executive Roundtable of the University of
California, Irvine, and a member of the Advisory Council of the
Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences. Mr. Wareham holds
a B.S. in Pharmacy from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska,
and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Ron
Taylor is a director of Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE:WPI) and
WestCoast Hospitality Corporation (NYSE:WEH) and is Chairman of the
Board of three privately-held companies: 3E Company, EMN8
Corporation, and Asteres, Inc. Mr. Taylor is also a member of the
Board of Trustees of San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art and is
Chairman of the University of California, San Diego Foundation.
Beginning in 2002, he also served as chair of the ResMed
Foundation, although in connection with his appointment to the
Board of Directors, he has resigned from the Foundation board. In
1987, Mr. Taylor founded Pyxis Corporation where he served as
Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer until its purchase
by Cardinal Health, Inc., in 1996. Before founding Pyxis, Mr.
Taylor was responsible for the operations and international sales
at Hybritech, Inc., for six years. Before joining Hybritech, he
served over ten years in management roles at Allergan
Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Taylor received a B.A. from the University of
Saskatchewan and an M.A. from the University of California, Irvine.
