Beazley Group plc, ("Beazley"), today announces that Joe Sargent, 73, is to
step-down as non-executive Chairman of the Company at Beazley's Annual General
Meeting on 12th June 2003. He has been Chairman since 1993. He will remain a
non-executive Director of the Group.

Jonathan Agnew, who joined Beazley's Board as a non-executive Director in March
2002 will succeed Joe Sargent as Chairman at the AGM. Jonathan currently also
serves as Chairman of Nationwide Building Society. He was Chairman of Limit Plc
from 1993 to 2000, represented corporate capital on the Council of Lloyd's from
1995 to 1998 and was a member of the Lloyd's Market Board from 1995 to 1999. He
was Chairman of Gerrard Group plc from 1998 to 2000. Previously he had been a
managing director of Morgan Stanley and then chief executive of Kleinwort Benson
Group.

Commenting on his retirement as Chairman of Beazley, Joe Sargent said:

"I have had a delightful association with the group since 1993 during a period
of consistency in earnings and growth in business. I am looking forward to
remaining a non-executive director of the group, and it is with great pleasure
that I welcome Jonathan Agnew in taking the reins going forward.
