Siemens AG (SIE.XE) said Monday it jointly received a major
order for a floating power plant in the Dominican Republic,
together with Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd. (S63.SG).
The order from Seaboard Corp. (SEB) subsidiary Transcontinental
Capital Corp. (Bermuda) is for a SCC-800 2x1C SeaFloat
barge-mounted power plant, Siemens said.
The Estrella del Mar III project is scheduled to start operation
in Santo Domingo in spring 2021, it said. Siemens said it will
provide a combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 145
megawatts, as well as a hybrid system, which combines a cycle power
plant with a battery energy-storage system.
"ST Engineering will be responsible for the engineering design,
procurement and construction of the floating power barge, the
balance of plant and the installation of the floating power plant,"
Siemens said.
