The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswire's. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
ExxonMobil Corp. (XOM) on Oct. 3 said a fire at its Baytown,
Texas, refinery was confined to a single process unit and that
operations at the rest of the refinery weren't impacted. The fire
was caused by a hole in a reactor, a environmental filing said. The
unit involved hasn't been identified.
Exxon Mobil Corp. on Oct. 2 said operations are normalizing at
its Torrance, Calif., refinery following an early morning power
outage on Oct. 1. Flaring associated with the effort could continue
through Oct. 9.
Hess Corp. (HES) on Oct. 3 said operations at it's Port Reading,
New Jersey, distillate and gasoline production facility continued
normally while emergency responders worked to clear vapors at the
truck rack due to a leak in a truck's line.
Phillips 66 (PSX) on Oct. 2 said all process units affected by
the Sept. 30 third-party provider power outage at its Sweeny,
Texas, refinery had been brought back on-line.
Alon USA (ALJ) on Oct. 2 said normal operations had resumed at
its Big Spring, Texas, refinery's FCCU after a wet gas compressor
malfunction the day before.
Philadelphia Energy Solutions (PES CG SUN) shut a CO boiler and
may have slightly reduced FCCU output, a person familiar with the
plant said on Oct. 2. There is no estimate of when the work will
end.
BP PLC (BP BP.LN) completed turnaround maintenance underway
since last month at its Whiting, Indiana, refinery a person
familiar with operations at the plant said on Oct. 2. The smallest
of three crude units restarted on Sept. 30 and an isomerization
unit was in restart mode. A hydrotreater unit was returned to
service last week.
Motiva Enterprises LLC on Oct. 2 said an impact assessment after
a brief fire the day before in a crude distillation unit at its
Convent, La., refinery continues. No other process units were
affected by the event.
Citgo Petroleum Corp on Oct. 1 said planned maintenance got
underway at unspecified units in the East and West facilities at
its Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery.
Pasadena Refining Systems Inc. on Oct. 1 said FCCU operations
quickly returned to normal after "slight" upsets at its Pasadena,
Texas, refinery FCCU on Sept. 28 and 29.
CVR Energy (CVI) on Sept. 29 resumed turnaround maintenance at
its Wynnewood, Okla. refinery after a boiler explosion on Sept. 28
fatally injured one worker and critically injured another. No
process units or other areas of the facility were affected by the
blast.
