AEDs Over Rivals IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Cardiac Science, Inc. (NASDAQ:DFIB), a leading manufacturer of
life-saving automatic public access defibrillators (AEDs), today
announced that the Nevada cities of Reno and Sparks and the Washoe
County Sheriff's Department, which patrols the adjoining area, have
selected the Cardiac Science Powerheart G3 AED for deployment in
their police cars and high profile public facilities. The three
groups joined forces and used a federal grant to make their initial
purchase of 86 Cardiac Science AEDs. "This was a very highly
contested win for us, one that demonstrates again that the ease of
use and reliability of our AEDs are of critical importance not just
for assisting someone stricken with sudden cardiac arrest, but also
in the marketplace," said Cardiac Science Chairman and CEO Raymond
W. Cohen. "We regularly find that when we have the opportunity to
demonstrate the superior attributes of our AEDs, customers select
our product over those of our competitors. We look forward to
working with city officials in Reno and Sparks and the sheriff's
deputies in Washoe County as they deploy AEDs in key areas where
they can add the critical protection against a massive heart
attack." Among other high profile places, the Washoe County
Sheriff's Department is placing its AEDs in their police cars and
in the jail. The city of Reno is placing its AEDs in the library,
City Hall, at parks and recreation facilities, both public golf
courses and the police department. Locations for AEDs in the city
of Sparks include City Hall, the Don Mello Sports Complex, the
Shadow Mountain Sports Complex, Sparks Municipal Court, Alf
Sorenson Community Center, Sparks Parks and Recreation offices, the
Sparks Police Department and the public works and city works
facilities. About Cardiac Science Cardiac Science develops,
