MENLO PARK, Calif.,
Nov. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- It's
that time of year again! A time to be grateful for all that we have
and give back to the causes and communities we care about most.
That's what #GivingTuesday is all about -- a national day of giving
to kick off the giving season and get us in the holiday spirit.

This year, in celebration of #GivingTuesday on November 28th, Facebook and the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation are teaming up to match up to $2 million in donations.
Donations to nonprofits made through Facebook's charitable
giving tools on November 28th can be
matched up to $50,000 per nonprofit
or $1,000 per fundraiser or donate
button, until the $2 million in
matching funds run out. Click here to learn more.
There are many ways to celebrate #GivingTuesday and give back to
your favorite charitable causes this year:
- Donate on Facebook: With only a click you can donate to
your favorite nonprofits directly on Facebook. There are over
750,000 nonprofits on Facebook, so just visit your favorite
nonprofit's Facebook Page, and hit "donate."
- Create a fundraiser: Start a fundraiser for nonprofits
directly on Facebook to help a worthwhile cause. You can create a
fundraiser in a few taps and share it wit friends and family to
inspire them to donate. On #GivingTuesday, people on Facebook will
see a message in their News Feed encouraging them to create a
fundraiser or donate to a cause.
- Share a post or go Live: Tell your friends and family
about the cause you are supporting this #GivingTuesday by writing a
post and tagging your favorite nonprofit. Before you share to your
News Feed, you'll see a prompt to add a donate button directly in
the post. Or during a Live broadcast, add a donate button so your
friends and family can donate while watching.
- Create a profile frame: Update your profile photo with a
colorful #GivingTuesday frame to show your support for nonprofits
this giving season. Just click here and select your favorite
frame!
We've already started to see the Facebook community come
together for Giving Tuesday in powerful ways to support the causes
they care about — from Emily in California who is fundraising to
provide prom dresses to teens who couldn't otherwise afford them to
Jill in New Jersey who is fundraising for pediatric cancer research
in her son's memory.
Giving back to our communities is important at Facebook, and
we're excited to see all the good we can do together this year on
#GivingTuesday.
