Chicago Tribune Surpasses 100,000 Digital Subscribers

Tribune Publishing Company (NASDAQ:TPCO) announced today
that the Chicago Tribune passed 100,000 digital-only
subscribers last month.
“This is a milestone – not a destination – as we accelerate
toward being a truly digitally-focused company,” said Timothy P.

our newsrooms to meet the changing demands of our audience and we
appreciate the growing support from subscribers, advertisers and
community partners.”
The Chicago Tribune’s breakthrough represents just a portion of
digital-only subscriptions at Tribune Publishing, which continues
to enhance its capabilities under Mark Campbell, Chief Marketing
Officer of Digital Subscriptions. The company is investing in key
people and technology, including a centralized team creating
digital products and a new syndication network. Every person
in Tribune newsrooms has access to strategic information and
specific data about their readers, and the company is working with
a new publishing platform.
The Chicago Tribune newsroom has also sharpened its focus on
digital innovation in recent years, to meet its audience’s
expectation of relevant, engaging content. Content generators and
audience team members have collaborated on new ways of attracting
readers, creating value that helped increase digital subscriptions
five-fold during the last four years. The audience insight team and
a trending desk are providing additional information about ways to
further engage readers and the number of digital subscriptions
continues to grow each day.
