/PRNewswire/ -- As the State of Florida embarks on the daunting
task of rebuilding after Hurricane Charley's devastating landfall
last week, Shell Oil Products US and Motiva Enterprises LLC donated
$50,000 to the Volunteer Florida Foundation in an effort to help
local communities rebuild after this disaster. The companies will
also provide support to the American Red Cross in the form of a
gasoline donation. (Logo:

our employees nationwide, I offer our empathy and support to the
individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Charley, and we
applaud the organizations who are helping people in Florida recover
from the devastation," said Bill Welte, president and chief
executive officer of Motiva Enterprises LLC. "Shell and Motiva have
always believed strongly in supporting our community, and providing
a donation to the Volunteer Florida Foundation and the American Red
Cross is one way we can lend support to those who are rebuilding
their communities." Shell and Motiva, the companies that market the
Shell brand in Florida, chose the Volunteer Florida Foundation
because the organization grants funds to many disaster relief
organizations serving Hurricane Charley victims in a way that
ensures there are no gaps in assistance. "The Volunteer Florida
Foundation was created to ensure that all recovery needs as a
result of Hurricane Charley are met," said Liza McFadden, president
of the Foundation. "It is important to look at the overall needs
for rebuilding Florida communities devastated by last week's
hurricane, and the generous donation from Shell and Motiva will
help us fulfill needs that are unmet by other organizations." In
addition, Shell and Motiva will support the American Red Cross'
efforts with a donation of Shell gasoline to fuel the 80 Red Cross
vehicles currently working to help residents in the area rebuild
their lives. Shell and Motiva are pleased to support both
organizations. For more information on donations or volunteering,
