New contract wins including major contract with Liverpool City Council
Parkman Group plc, the professional support services group, has been invited to
enter into negotiations as preferred bidder by Liverpool City Council (the
"Council") in a major new partnership.
Parkman has been recommended as the Council's private sector partner in a ten
year joint venture expected to be worth at least #10 million per annum to
Parkman. The partnership will provide the Council's professional services
function in property, building, highways and traffic engineering. The contract
is proposed to start on 1 September 2003 and initially some 250 staff will
transfer, though the number of staff is expected to grow significantly as the
momentum for regeneration accelerates in Liverpool.
Parkman Chief Executive, Richard Cuthbert, commented: "This will be a flagship
commission for Parkman. Whilst we already have a number of major partnership
clients such as Wiltshire County Council and Transport for London, the service
breadth and the ambition for growth in Liverpool will make it unique. It moves
Parkman up a level in terms of capacity and profile in the sector."
Councillor Peter Millea, Liverpool Council's Executive Member for Regeneration
said: "This latest venture is yet another example of the Council's commitment to
harnessing the best aspects of private sector experience and expertise to
support its policy of delivering the highest quality services to the community.
Parkman's innovative proposals for the joint venture, together with their
long-term involvement in the community and their commitment of a top quality
management team, struck a chord with the City Council's elected Members and
Officers."
In addition, Parkman is also pleased to announce a number of other contract
wins:
*Ofsted has re-appointed Parkman, to carry out primary school inspections
for the academic year 2003/04 in a contract valued at more than #1.5m. This
