VANCOUVER, March 25, 2013 /CNW/ - Encanto Potash Corp.
("Encanto" or the "Company") (TSXV: EPO and OTCQX: ENCTF) is
pleased to announce that Dr. Simon
Desjardins has been appointed to the role of Vice President
of Technical Services and Project Management and Darren Svedahl has joined the Encanto team as
Manager, Lands and Government Relations.
Dr. Desjardins brings critical experience to his
Project Management role with Encanto as the Company conducts its
Feasibility Study, including bridge engineering, and infrastructure
planning necessary for production. Dr. Desjardins previously worked
at Alderon Iron Ore Corp. ("Alderon") where he was responsible for
port terminal management and procurement of long lead time
production items.
Prior to Alderon, Dr. Desjardins was an Area
Manager for Rio Tinto Alcan with responsibilities including
utilities design and transport modeling/logistics and with Rio
Tinto IOC as Study Manager for both rail and port facilities. Dr.
Desjardins was also a member of MagIndustries Corp's Congo potash project where he regularly
liaised with potash process designers, civil and mechanical leads
and was responsible for the procurement of field equipment,
transport logistics and constructability reviews. In addition, Dr.
Desjardins spent 3 years as a Project Manager EPCM for SNC-Lavalin,
working on feasibility studies for Canadian Royalties Nickel as
well as construction, procurement and permitting for Xstrata Zinc,
one of the world's largest global diversified mining companies.
Dr. Desjardins has earned a Bachelor of
Engineering, Agriculture and Biosystems, a Master of Engineering,
and a PhD in Civil Engineering, from McGill
University.
Mr. Svedahl joins the project team with 20
years' experience working with the Canadian Federal government in
the departments of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and Aboriginal
Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) with his most
recent position being Manager of Lands and Environment for AANDC's
Saskatchewan Region. His background in geomatics, land registration
systems and land management regulatory activities, as well as two
decades of experience working closely with First Nations
communities, other federal departments and agencies and the
provincial government make Mr. Svedahl ideally suited for his new
role with Encanto.
Mr. Svedahl holds a diploma in Surveying
Engineering Technology from the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied
Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Geography which he earned 'with distinction' from the University of Regina.
