LONDON--Tullow Oil PLC (TLW.LN) said Tuesday that it has found
oil at its Etom-2 well in Block 13T in Northern Kenya and believes
that there is further potential in other underexplored areas of the
block.
"Accordingly, we will review the potential of the greater Etom
area and neighboring prospects to decide on our forward [drilling]
program," said Angus McCoss, Tullow's exploration director. The
company will now move to Block 12A where it will start drilling the
first well in the Kerio Valley Basin around year end.
Tullow has completed the Ngamia Extended Well Test in Block 10BB
which produced about 38,000 barrels of oil. The five completed
zones of Ngamia-8 were tested at a combined rate of 2,400 barrels
of oil a day and all except the lowest zone produced oil
naturally.
Tullow operates Blocks 13T and 10BB and has a 50% stake in them,
Africa Oil Corporation owns the remaining 50%.
