BUDAPEST--Hungary's largest telecom firm Magyar Telekom's
(MTELEKOM.BU) dividend policy hinges partly on the announcement of
the second round of a spectrum tender, the firm's deputy chief
executive said Thursday.
Janos Szabo said he expects the second round of the tender to be
called later this year or in the first quarter of 2014.
"It's important to participate in the tender, we need the
additional frequency for boosting our mobile data services," Mr.
Szabo said.
Hungary's top court in February annulled a mobile frequency
tender that would have enabled the launch of a fourth mobile
telecommunications company, owned by the state.
The state plans to sell the frequency nevertheless as it needs
the revenue.
