Park That Pioneered Public Wi-Fi Uses Wibiki to Give New Yorkers
Secure Access to Free Wi-Fi NEW YORK, March 27 /PRNewswire/ --
Bryant Park has chosen Wibiki(TM)(SM) to make free Wi-Fi more
secure for New Yorkers. "Wibiki's free Wi-Fi is also extra easy to
use," said Daniel A. Biederman, executive director of the Bryant
Park Restoration Corporation. "We love being able to take Wi-Fi to
a new level. Our strategy is 'keep improving.' Wibiki helps Bryant
Park keep improving our Wi-Fi services and still keep them free."
Public access to Wi-Fi is increasing in the U.S. The problem is
that increasing public access can also increase the risk of
identity theft for public users. When users select open unsecured
access to Wi-Fi, user data can be intercepted more easily. "Wibiki
is changing that," says Wibiki CEO Shant Hovnanian. "We make it
safe to share Wi-Fi. When Bryant Park patrons choose Wibiki free
Wi-Fi, they are actually getting more secure access to the Internet
than when they buy access from Wi-Fi hotspots!" Wibiki also
streamlines the Wi-Fi access experience. It automatically connects
the user to the Internet upon command. It never asks for a user
name, address or password. "Wibiki will never ask for your credit
card either," adds CEO Hovnanian. "Why would it? Wibiki is software
for a free Wi-Fi world." Wibiki Inc. is a subsidiary of Speedus
Corp. (NASDAQ:SPDE). Speedus is a pioneer in wireless broadband,
owning both wireless spectrum and a portfolio of broadband IP.
Speedus also holds controlling interests in Zargis Medical Corp.
and F&B Gudtfood Holdings, Inc. Wibiki is a trademark and
service mark of Wibiki Inc. The Bryant Park Restoration Corporation
is a not-for-profit private management company established by
Daniel A. Biederman and Andrew Heiskell, with support from the
Rockefeller Brothers Fund and private contributors. It was formed
in order to rehabilitate the historic park following a steady
decline in conditions over the years. The newly restored Bryant
Park opened to rave reviews in 1992, and continues to serve as an
outstanding example of urban renewal and public-private
partnerships. Statements contained herein that are not historical
