Auto-Graphics, Inc. (AIFS), a technology innovator providing library automation solutions for 40 years, today announced that the Harrison County Library System, providing 10 public library locations in Coastal Mississippi, has selected AGent VERSO™ as its integrated library system (ILS). AGent VERSO will be replacing SirsiDynix’s Horizon ILS.

The libraries within Harrison County’s system will also utilize AGent Iluminar™, Auto-Graphics’ user interface built using the Adobe Flex® framework, which provides intuitive navigation using innovative web cues that patrons have come to expect in a next generation web interface. In addition, AGent Iluminar employs inventive, attention-grabbing display technologies such as 3D Flip and Cover Flow book jacket display, made popular by Apple iPod®, as well as enhanced drag & drop functionality and the ability for patrons to modify their own user experience through "My Lists" and "My Account" customization options. Participating libraries include:

  • East Biloxi Temporary Library
  • Gulfport Temporary Library
  • Jerry Lawrence Memorial Library/D’Iberville
  • Local History & Genealogy
  • Margaret Sherry Memorial Library
  • Orange Grove Public Library
  • Pass Christian Public Library
  • Saucier Children’s Library
  • West Biloxi Library
  • Woolmarket Temporary Library

The Harrison County Library System selected the Software as a Service (SaaS) hosted delivery method, which provides full system support and maintenance, allowing Harrison County to focus on expanding patron services without the additional cost and complexity of addressing technical support issues.

“After Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, we put the idea of replacing the Horizon system we’d had since the 1990s on the shelf,” said Charline Longino, head librarian at the Biloxi Public Library. “When we did start looking for a new system, we wanted one that would really connect with patrons and one that would also provide us with more security, data back-up and redundancy than we had hosting the system ourselves. Auto-Graphics’ AGent VERSO fit the bill on both counts. We really liked the easy-to-use AGent Iluminar user interface, and we were impressed with Auto-Graphics’ reputation for providing systems through SaaS. We are now building four new libraries, and AGent VERSO has provided our librarians and IT team with the security and freedom to step away from the ‘daily care and feeding’ of the system and to focus on rebuilding our libraries and serving our patrons.”
