Shots were fired at a bus convoy carrying 60 employees of PT
Freeport Indonesia, said a senior company official Tuesday.
The attack happened Tuesday morning and resulted in two
employees being injured, said Mindo Pangaribuan, the company's
spokesman.
One employee was shot in the thigh and arm, while the other was
shot in the hand and wrist. Pangaribuan said the employees are
receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital and are in stable
condition.
Police are on the scene and an investigation is underway, said
Pangaribuan.
Milling and mining operations of the company, which runs one of
the world's largest copper and gold mines, haven't been affected,
he added.
