Ocado Group PLC said Friday that it has appointed Richard Haythornthwaite as its new independent nonexecutive chairman, effective Jan. 1, 2021.

The online grocer said Mr. Haythornthwaite would succeed Stuart Rose, who would be retiring from the role after eight years.

Mr. Haythornthwaite is currently chairman at Mastercard Inc.
