The board of Travis Perkins plc announces that it was notified today, by a faxed
letter dated 7 November 2003 from Citigroup, that due to the sale on 6 November
2003 of 80,000 Ordinary shares of Travis Perkins plc (the "Ordinary shares") by
Standard Life Investments on behalf of Standard Life Group ("Standard Life"),
Standard Life's material interest in the Ordinary shares is now 3,348,678 and
that this is less than 3% of the Ordinary shares in issue
