Verizon Communications Inc. on Monday said it named Manon Brouillette executive vice president and chief executive of its Verizon Consumer Group, effective Jan. 1.

The New York telecommunications giant said Ms. Brouillette succeeds Ronan Dunne at the helm of its largest division, which provides wireless and wireline products and services to more than 100 million consumers.

Verizon said Mr. Dunne will take on the role of strategic adviser and serve as its board representative for Yahoo, which the company sold earlier this year to private-equity firm Apollo Global Management Inc. while retaining a 10% stake.

Ms. Brouillette joined Verizon's consumer group as chief operating officer and deputy CEO in July after serving as president and CEO of Canadian telecommunications company Videotron.
